Bad Couple

Bad Couple (Korean) - Gi Chan & Dang Ja

This was a funny show. It was funny how Dang Ja went about getting Gi Chan's sperm. But back to the beginning when she decided on her future. After she baby-sat a friend's daughter for the day, she wanted to have a baby. Specifically a baby girl. Well, she was watching TV when she saw him on a show. She decided for him to be the "sperm donor." This and that follow and she ends up pregnant. Eventually, the both of them fall in love with each other.

Though he doesn't know she's pregnant, he feels he should take care of her (this is before she finds out she is pregnant because the first time was a false alarm which then led to the second night). Everything he does for her she turns around and denies his help. Towards the beginning stages of her pregnancy, she finds out she has a tumor in her uterus. The doctors say that they should abort the baby and take out the uterus because she can hopefully live after that (only a 50% chance of living).

When Dang Ja is about five months pregnant, her friend tells Gi Chan that Dang Ja is pregnant with his child because she's been continuously fainting and gagging over food. Then, he starts taking more care of her (after becoming drunk the night he finds out). At one point, he hears from her doctor she has a tumor. The doctor says that they should abort the baby and that she will have a 50% chance of living. The next day or so, she brings it up to him about him not saying a word to her. She then tells him that, though her chance of surviving decreases with each passing month, she wants to have the baby because, without it, she would die. They get married without her knowing about it until he takes her to a salon.

The last fifteen or so minutes of the final episode was getting to me. Dang Ja wanted to go somewhere because she felt cooped in the hospital but she knew she couldn't. When she was sleeping, Gi Chan takes her to the roof. He sings her a lullaby after she asks. The lyrics basically said that the singer and their love should stay together forever and that the singer loves their special someone. When he was singing, she was crying. Towards the end, he was beginning to get emotional. Yes. I did get emotional. I started to cry. I heard in the background Mom say, "Why do you do that to yourself?" because I almost always cry over something in the dramas I have watched. Anyway, they're at the hospital and she's being carted towards the operating room. When Dang Ja's doctor walks passed Gi Chan, the doctor says something to the extent of the baby will be okay once it's in the incubator. Gi Chan asks what about Dang Ja and the doctor walks away. Then, Gi Chan starts crying.

Then we get a "six years later" epilogue. In the end, the both of them have a five-year-old daughter, Ja Du, and a one-year-old or so baby boy, Hun Chan.

In the end, this was a wonderful show. I'm glad I watched it because it was so excellent. Okay, I have no other words to describe this show. I'm glad I chose to watch it from a list of recaps on someone's blog. So, onto the search for another drama!
