Ojakgyo Brothers

Ojakgyo Brothers (Korean) - Tae Hee & Ja Eun

Just like a couple of my other posts, this one is long. So! Here I go!

I quite enjoyed this show. For the first several times I would look at the name and find out how many episodes there were (58), I was like, No way. There is no way I am going to watch fifty-eight episodes. After watching a collaboration several times, I finally decided that I would just watch it because I couldn't find anything that sounded any better than this show. I am so glad I chose to watch it. In fact, this drama is longer than It Started With A Kiss and It Started With A Kiss 2 on their own and combined. Only by eight episodes but whatever. So, anyway, back to the show itself.

I just loved Tae Hee and Ja Eun. I loved their interaction between each other. One scene I found funny was when he came home drunk one night and crawled into her tent. When he collapsed on her, she shrieked. And then she had to go and take photos of him passed out.

Another funny thing that didn't directly happen between them but happened because of them was between Tae Hee and Tae Pil. After Tae Hee had confessed to Ja Eun that he liked her and he kissed her, she said, "Yes... Let's go." So, he went to Tae Pil and asked him what it means. Of course Tae Hee had to say that he has a friend who confessed to this girl he likes and she just said, "'Yes... Let's go.'" Tae Pil was basically like, "Ah, so you confessed to Ja Eun and that's what she said to you." Each time he would say "Ja Eun", Tae Hee was automatically on the defense. And then Tae Pil had to go and torture the poor guy by always saying, "Yes... Let's go." At one point, when the both of them and Tae Shik were in Tae Hee's car and Tae Pil said that, Tae Hee pulled Tae Pil into a headlock and poor Tae Shik tried to get them to stop.

One scene I found funny occurred between Tae Hee and Ja Eun then Tae Hee and Tae Pil. Ja Eun just came out of the bathroom with a wet head. When she asks him simple questions where the answer is yes or no, he's like, "Uh" (yes). When she goes upstairs, he closes his eyes like, "What the frick was that?!" He goes into his room and is pulling his sweater away from his stomach to fan himself. After finishing what was in his cup, he fans himself with his hand, picks up a small stack of papers, and starts fanning himself again. Tae Pil walks in and starts asking about the previous day before looking at Tae Hee's face and seeing that it's red. He asks him if he's hot and he says no. Tae Pil says that you normally wouldn't be hot in the winter and asks Tae Hee was he was thinking for him to be like that in the morning. Tae Hee says for Tae Pil not to make any wild guesses and asks what he (Tae Hee) could imagine. He then asks what Tae Pil wanted and he says that he forgot what he came for. He turns around and walks towards the bookshelf "trying to remember" before turning back around when he "remembered". Tae Pil then says that with Ja Eun and Tae Hee being under the same roof, it makes him uncomfortable before snickering and leaving the room with Tae Hee pausing for a moment before saying "Ya!" (Hey!) and closing his eyes in a I'm-screwed way. Funny!!! Of course, this entire scene happened after Tae Hee and Ja Eun's first kiss.

Now, I loved when they kissed for the first time. I mean, I can't explain. It was a scene where she tried to get away from him but he just kept going after her because she didn't want to hear what he had to say. Now, their very first date, which was that very night, was awkward between them. When he had to take a call, she took the duck copies of the both of them and made the two ducks kiss. Then you hear, "What are you doing?" She looks and she's caught red-handed by none other than Tae Hee. Talk about funny. And then she grabbed a cup of started drinking from it. He says that it's his cup and that where her lips were was the exact place his were. Love!!!!

One scene I have a love-hate relationship with is the car scene after their first kiss and date. Well, Tae Hee takes a call and looks over to see Ja Eun applying lip balm to her lips while looking out of the windshield. He's not paying attention to whoever's talking and just saying yeah at random moments. He then takes it away from his ear and throws it into the door's arm rest holder. He quickly leans over to her and kisses her which causes her to drop her lip balm. Yes, they do kiss with passion. Love!!! Then, when he moves away and she starts applying her lip balm while looking at him. Then, you see he is still on the phone, looking at her while she's applying her lip balm and looking out of the windshield. It was his imagination!!! I totally hated that! I wish that it was the truth but no-o-o-o!!!!! Now let's go from love and funny to sad.

So, you find out that the "culprit" behind Tae Hee's father's hit-and-run is Ja Eun's dad. Well, Tae Hee's uncle (whom he calls "dad" because he raised him) tells the both of them to break up which they both agree to do so. They go on a final date and she leaves the restaurant they are at after telling him that they are breaking up. After having a minute to himself, he runs out to find her. He runs back and forth, looking for her. Eventually he turns around and finds her looking at him. She goes up to him and says that she loves him before he kisses her. End of episode. Then the next episode shows them getting drunk and stuff within the next couple of days. She gets happy drunk and he gets sad drunk. She has her boss go shopping with her. She buys jewelry, clothes, and gets her nails done. He then has to leave for a meeting and later, he gets a phone call from her. When you see her, she's at a dance club. She's dancing to music while in a drunken-happy stupor. A few minutes later, Tae Hee comes in. She sees him and he starts to make his way over to her before she runs off to the bathrooms. When she turns and leaves, he pauses for a moment before following her which her boss stops him from continuing. Later, he gets what I'll call sad-drunk. So far on his table, you see four soju bottles, three of which are open (two are finished and so he's on his third bottle). He's drinking a shot one right after the other. When the scene changes to the brothers, parents, and grandmother sitting in the front room, he comes stumbling in, cries, and begs his grandmother to forgive Ja Eun because she didn't do anything and he can't live without her. He tells his grandmother his heart hurts like it was stabbed through with a knife, that he can't eat or drink, and that only drinking alcohol makes him sleep. When he's crying, Tae Shik, Tae Bum, and Tae Pil are upset. For the next five or so episodes, they were both miserable.

After all of that chaos and him looking into the hit-and-run accident which killed his father, they end up getting together because they found out her father was not the culprit but Tae Hee's boss, the chief.

Besides Tae Hee and Ja Eun, there were a couple of other couples I liked and some funny, love, and sad scenes. Heck, even between the entire family there were funny, love, and sad scenes. But, because this post is too long with so many occurrences between Tae Hee and Ja Eun (I swear this post might as well be about the entire sixty-plus hours spent on this show, telling what I love about minute number one, minute number two, etc.), I will leave it here. And now it's time for another drama.
